The Big Ten Conference Student-Athlete Issues Commission (SAIC) is urging NCAA President Charlie Baker to continue pushing for restrictions on proposition betting, including the possibility of an outright ban.
In its message, the SAIC emphasized limiting or removing prop bets as a priority. Proposition bets, commonly known as “prop bets,” focus on specific statistical outcomes or in-game events rather than the final score.
The commission’s request adds to the ongoing conversation around sports wagering and its impact on college athletics, with student-athlete groups increasingly weighing in on how betting markets intersect with player experience and competitive integrity.
