Chicago Bulls coach Billy Donovan said he appreciated the public endorsement from team president and CEO Michael Reinsdorf, but emphasized he isn’t putting extra meaning into the comments as he continues to evaluate his future with the franchise.
Donovan, who has not yet made a decision on what comes next, acknowledged Reinsdorf’s support while also noting the realities of the job and the organization’s broader priorities.
“Everybody’s got to look out for what is best for the Bulls,” Donovan said, framing the situation as one that requires a team-first perspective.
Donovan’s status remains undecided
Donovan’s comments underscored that his decision-making process is still ongoing. While he welcomed the backing from the organization’s top executive, he indicated he understands that leadership must evaluate what serves the franchise best.
For Chicago, the message was clear: even with an endorsement from ownership leadership, Donovan is focused on the bigger picture and not reading into public statements as a signal of what will happen next.
