Kyle Green is returning to Northern Iowa to become the Panthers’ head men’s basketball coach, replacing Jacobson.

Green is no stranger to the program. He has had three separate stints as an assistant at UNI, building a lengthy history with the Panthers before leaving for a role at Iowa State.

Most recently, Green spent the past five years on Iowa State’s staff. He now heads back to Cedar Falls to take over UNI’s men’s basketball program.

A familiar face for the Panthers

Green’s appointment brings a coach with deep ties to Northern Iowa back into the program’s top job. His previous assistant coaching tenures at UNI, combined with his recent experience in Ames, position him to step in with firsthand knowledge of the Panthers’ basketball culture and expectations.

UNI’s coaching change marks a new chapter for the program as it moves forward under Green’s leadership.
