Michigan center Aday Mara added a new wrinkle to his offensive résumé Sunday, connecting on the first two 3-pointers of his collegiate career during the Wolverines’ 82-61 win over Ohio State.
The 7-foot-3 big man’s pair of makes from beyond the arc also carried historical significance. Mara became only the fourth Division I player at that height since the 2002-03 season to hit at least two 3s in a single game.
Michigan’s comfortable margin against Ohio State provided the backdrop for Mara’s milestone, as the Wolverines pulled away for a 21-point victory.
Rare shooting feat for a 7-footer
While 3-point shooting has become increasingly common across positions, multi-3 games remain unusual for players standing 7-foot-3. Mara’s two makes in the same contest put him on a short list of similarly sized Division I players to reach that mark over the past two decades.
