The NBA has fined the Portland Trail Blazers $100,000 and suspended assistant general managers Mike Schmitz and Sergi Oliva for two weeks, the league announced.
The penalties were issued for illegal contact with Yang Hansen that took place in December 2023. The league said the contact occurred two years before Hansen, a 7-footer from China, was drafted.
League discipline
Schmitz and Oliva will each serve a two-week suspension as part of the NBA’s ruling. The Trail Blazers were also assessed the $100,000 fine.
No additional details were included in the league’s announcement beyond the timing of the contact and the disciplinary measures imposed.
