The RedHawks trailed late before surging back in the closing stretch. With the game tight in the final seconds, Perry attacked the rim and converted the go-ahead layup, leaving Western Michigan with only a second to respond.
The win keeps Miami (Ohio) unbeaten and adds another close finish to a run that has now reached 29 consecutive victories to open the season.
