Darryn Peterson was happy to finally finish a game for No. 11 Kansas — and the Jayhawks needed the standout freshman to do exactly that against No. 13 Texas Tech.
Peterson hit two late 3-pointers to help Kansas close out the victory, providing the decisive shot-making in the final moments as the Jayhawks held off the Red Raiders.
Freshman delivers when Kansas needed it most
Peterson’s late-game surge stood out not only for the shots themselves, but for what they represented: a chance to be on the floor and make plays at the finish. After the game, he said he was glad to finally be able to close one out for Kansas.
In a matchup between ranked teams, Kansas leaned on Peterson’s timely scoring down the stretch to secure the result. Texas Tech pushed Kansas to the end, but Peterson’s pair of 3s provided the separation the Jayhawks needed to finish the job.
