Chicago Bulls CEO and president Michael Reinsdorf said Tuesday that keeping Billy Donovan as the team’s head coach will be a major requirement as the franchise searches for a new head of basketball operations.
Reinsdorf’s comments come after the Bulls fired Arturas Karnisovas earlier this week, creating a vacancy at the top of the team’s basketball decision-making structure.
Donovan’s status central to search
Reinsdorf said the next person hired to lead basketball operations must be “sold on” Donovan, signaling that continuity on the bench is a priority as the organization moves forward with a new front-office leader.
The Bulls are now set to begin the process of identifying a replacement for Karnisovas, with Donovan’s retention positioned as a central part of the hiring criteria.
