Former St. John’s star RJ Luis has committed to LSU, giving the Tigers a notable addition if he is cleared to play.
Luis was named the 2025 Big East Player of the Year after a standout college season with St. John’s. His move to LSU comes with an important unresolved issue: his eligibility is still to be determined after he spent this past season on two-way contracts in the NBA.
The eligibility question will shape how soon, or whether, Luis can suit up for LSU. Two-way NBA contracts allow players to spend time between an NBA roster and its G League affiliate, and Luis’ status now requires clarification before his college availability can be settled.
A major addition pending clearance
For LSU, Luis’ commitment represents a high-profile roster development. As a recent conference player of the year from the Big East, he would bring proven production and recognition at the major-conference level if approved to compete.
Until his eligibility is resolved, however, his commitment remains only part of the picture for the Tigers as they continue building their roster.
