Syracuse has its next head coach.
The school announced Tuesday that it has hired Siena’s Gerry McNamara to lead the Orange. McNamara, who had been the head coach at Siena, returns to Syracuse in a new role after a standout playing career with the program.
McNamara is widely remembered by Syracuse fans for his time in an Orange uniform, and the hire brings a familiar name back to the sidelines in Central New York.
A return to Syracuse
McNamara previously made his mark at Syracuse as a star player, and now takes over as head coach following his stint at Siena. Syracuse’s announcement formalized the move and introduced McNamara as the program’s next leader.
