UCF delivered one of its sharpest shooting performances of the season Tuesday night, knocking down 14 of 24 attempts from 3-point range to upset No. 19 BYU 97-84.
The Knights’ efficiency from beyond the arc proved to be the difference as they created separation and ran away from the Cougars on BYU’s home floor. UCF’s 3-point total fueled a high-scoring night and kept consistent pressure on a BYU team that entered the game ranked inside the top 20 nationally.
Perimeter shooting swings the game
UCF’s 14 made 3-pointers came on 58.3% shooting from deep, a rate that allowed the Knights to build momentum and maintain control as the game progressed. The scoring burst from long range helped UCF reach 97 points and secure the upset by 13.
BYU, playing at home with a national ranking on the line, couldn’t match the Knights’ outside accuracy as UCF’s shooting opened up the floor and turned the contest into a track meet. The result marked a notable road win for UCF and a setback for the 19th-ranked Cougars.
