Victor Wembanyama delivered one of his most explosive scoring performances Tuesday night, posting 40 points in only 26 minutes as the San Antonio Spurs cruised to a 136-108 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Wembanyama did all of his damage in three quarters, then spent the entire fourth on the bench as the Spurs closed out the blowout. Afterward, he acknowledged he wanted to stay on the floor longer, saying he was eager to keep piling up statistics.
Big night, early exit
With the game well in hand, San Antonio opted to sit Wembanyama for the final period. Even without fourth-quarter minutes, his 40-point output in limited time stood out as the Spurs’ offense overwhelmed the Lakers and turned the matchup into a lopsided result.
The Spurs’ 136 points underscored the control they maintained throughout the night, while Wembanyama’s rapid scoring pace set the tone before he watched the finish from the sideline.
