The Portland Trail Blazers quickly reversed course on a broadcast hire, parting ways with Braiden Bell on the same day he was announced as the team’s new play-by-play announcer.
The move came after a series of inappropriate social media posts from 2012-13 surfaced. The posts were made when Bell was a teenager.
Bell had been brought in to serve as the voice of the Trail Blazers’ broadcasts, but his tenure ended before it began following the emergence of the old posts.
Broadcast role ends immediately
The Trail Blazers’ decision leaves the team without Bell in the play-by-play role shortly after announcing his hiring. No additional details were included regarding a replacement or next steps for the broadcast position.
